Scott Morrison is and has been a dedicated English teacher, arriving at Mid-Pacific with 24 years of experience.
As a world traveler, Morrison brings knowledge from a variety of different schools. Most recently, he taught at Le Jardin and Seabury.
However, he didn’t always have the desire to be an English teacher. For Morrison, it all started with a tutoring job he took on in college.
“When I was in college I took a tutoring job… I was an English major and I also studied music,” Morrison said.
The job entailed that Morrison would be teaching piano, which he studied for six years.
“I taught a little bit of piano, which I didn’t love as much. I liked the tutoring, the writing and the English more,” Morrison said.
Once he graduated school, he accepted a job as a writing graduate assistant. From there he traveled to China, where he taught for a few years.
“I went to China and I taught for six years. And I’ve been teaching ever since,” Morrison said.
Morrison never backs down from a good challenge. One of his favorite jobs involved starting a high highschool from scratch and tends to like “developing schools”. He expressed that he liked having a problem to solve, which is reflected in his teaching style.
He wants students to figure things out and be motivated to find what interests them in a book. Morrison understands that there is always something in a book that would catch the interest of a student, it’s just a matter of finding it.
“I try to talk and help the students find questions in what they’re working on that they are interested in,” Morisson said.

I am a former student at Le Jardin who had him, and all I can say is good luck. He was fired for a reason.
